About Field Service Guide
Field Service Guide is an independent, AI-enabled research publication dedicated to helping field service businesses — HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and other trades — find the right software without wasting months on the wrong platform.
We don’t accept payment for rankings, sponsored placements, or paid reviews. Every recommendation we make is based on independent research, synthesis of public data, and editorial judgment — never on vendor payments or affiliate relationships.
Our Mission
Field service businesses are underserved by generic software review sites that rank platforms based on affiliate revenue rather than merit. A small HVAC company shopping for software shouldn’t have to wade through enterprise-focused content or paid rankings to find an honest answer. Field Service Guide exists to fix that.
We publish in-depth, trade-specific analysis of field service management software — covering the platforms, features, pricing, and trade-specific use cases that matter to the businesses actually using these tools.
How We Analyze Software
Field Service Guide is an AI-enabled research publication. We combine large-scale data synthesis with editorial judgment to produce what we believe is the most comprehensive, current, and consistent analysis of field service management software available anywhere. Our methodology, in plain language:
1. Comprehensive Data Synthesis
For every platform we cover, we ingest and analyze public-facing data from vendor documentation, feature pages, pricing disclosures, customer reviews on G2, Capterra, TrustRadius, GetApp, and Software Advice, independent industry analyses, public financial filings where applicable (e.g., ServiceTitan’s SEC disclosures), and discussions across Reddit, industry forums, and LinkedIn. For a single platform, our analysis typically incorporates several thousand distinct data points.
2. Consistent Scoring Framework
Every platform is scored against the same criteria: core workflow coverage, mobile functionality, pricing transparency, integration ecosystem, customer support quality, and trade-specific fit. Scores derive from verifiable inputs — not anecdote — and are applied identically across every review, so comparisons between platforms are apples-to-apples.
3. AI-Assisted Analysis at Scale
We use AI to synthesize far more evidence per platform than any human-only review team could process — something that gives our coverage greater breadth, currency, and internal consistency than traditional review sites that rely on a handful of reviewers’ personal experience. AI surfaces signals at scale; human editorial judgment validates, contextualizes, and makes final calls on rankings and recommendations. Every review is reviewed by a human before publication.
4. Trade-Specific Context
Our analysis weights features differently for HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and other trades. A mobile app that works for a lawn-care crew may not work for an HVAC tech diagnosing a furnace in a crawl space. Our ratings reflect that trade-specific reality.
5. Pricing Transparency
Where vendors publish pricing, we document the complete picture — base plan, per-user fees, add-on costs, payment processing rates, onboarding fees, and any feature-gating that changes the practical value of lower-tier plans. Where vendors obscure pricing, we say so in the review.
6. Continuous Currency
FSM software changes constantly. Pricing moves, features ship, mobile apps evolve. Our analysis is updated on an ongoing basis and every review displays a “last updated” date. Dated research is worse than no research, so we invest heavily in keeping everything current.
What We Don’t Do
We are transparent about the limits of our methodology: we do not conduct comprehensive field trials of every platform. A single team running actual installations through 27+ platforms with any depth would take years and still produce only one reviewer’s opinion. Instead, we let the full body of public evidence — vendor disclosures, thousands of customer reviews across multiple sources, independent coverage, and pricing documentation — speak collectively. We believe this produces more comprehensive and less idiosyncratic analysis than a single reviewer’s limited trial, and we disclose the methodology so you can weigh our recommendations accordingly.
Our Independence Policy
Field Service Guide earns revenue through affiliate partnerships — when you click a link to a software vendor and sign up, we may receive a commission. This never influences our rankings or recommendations. We link to affiliate programs after our review is written and finalized. If we recommend a platform without an affiliate relationship, we still recommend it — and we say so.
Specific commitments we make:
- We do not accept payment for positive reviews or higher rankings
- We do not let vendors review or approve content before publication
- We do not remove negative findings from reviews in exchange for affiliate relationships
- We disclose affiliate relationships in accordance with FTC guidelines (16 C.F.R. Part 255)
- Rankings reflect our honest assessment — the #1 spot is earned, not bought

Frequently Asked Questions
Is Field Service Guide affiliated with any software companies?
Field Service Guide has affiliate relationships with several FSM software vendors, which means we earn a commission if you click through and subscribe. These relationships do not influence our rankings, ratings, or the content of our reviews. We apply the same evaluation methodology to every platform regardless of whether an affiliate relationship exists.
Does Field Service Guide use AI to produce its content?
Yes. We are proud to be an AI-enabled publication. We use AI to synthesize large volumes of public data — vendor documentation, pricing pages, customer reviews across G2, Capterra, and other sources, industry coverage, and community discussions — into comprehensive platform analyses. This approach gives us dramatically more coverage breadth, currency, and internal consistency than traditional review sites. All AI-assisted analysis is reviewed, validated, and signed off by a human editor before publication. Rankings and recommendations reflect our editorial judgment, not the output of a model alone.
Do you personally test every platform?
No, and we don’t claim to. We analyze every platform comprehensively using publicly available information — vendor documentation, pricing, thousands of verified customer reviews, independent industry coverage, and more. We believe this produces more complete and less biased coverage than any single reviewer’s limited comprehensive platform analysis could. See our Methodology page for details.
How often are reviews updated?
We update reviews whenever significant platform changes occur — new pricing, major feature releases, or changes to the mobile app. Each review displays a “last updated” date. We aim to fully re-evaluate every major platform at least once per year.
Can a software company pay to be featured or ranked higher?
No. Rankings and featured placement on Field Service Guide are not for sale. Software companies cannot purchase editorial coverage, positive reviews, or higher positions in comparison articles. Our editorial policy is non-negotiable on this point.
Do you only review popular platforms?
We prioritize platforms with meaningful market presence in North America, but we also review niche and emerging platforms when they offer something meaningfully different. If a platform is gaining traction in a specific trade (electrical, pest control, etc.), we want to cover it even if it’s not a household name.
How can I suggest a software platform for review?
You can reach us at hello@fieldserviceguide.com. We welcome suggestions from business owners who have used platforms we haven’t covered yet. We review suggestions regularly and prioritize platforms with growing momentum in specific trades, though we can’t guarantee coverage of every suggested platform.
What trades does Field Service Guide cover?
Our primary coverage focuses on HVAC, plumbing, and electrical — the three largest segments of the residential field service market. We also publish guides for pest control, lawn care, cleaning services, and general home services. Our software reviews apply broadly across all trades that use dispatch-based scheduling and mobile field operations.
